Crash Landing On You Episode 5 Recap

I will be writing weekly episode recaps about Crash Landing on You (or trying to). Recaps are typically uninspiring. If I want an episode play-by-play, I can watch the show. This is a disclaimer: There will be spoilers, be prepared. If you would like to start from the beginning of the series, go here.

Five Things That Happened This Episode

  1. Captain Ri drives Dan to Pyongyang
  2. New Exit Plan
  3. The Watch
  4. Company 5 investigated
  5. Seung Jun and Se Ri Meet

1. Captain Ri drives Dan to Pyongyang

Dan came to visit Captain Ri as soon as she returned home from Russia. He drove her back to Pyongyang. There he had dinner with her family. Later Captain Ri agrees to marry Dan in exchange for a favor from his dad.

2.The New Exit Plan

Se Ri will be sneaking out of the country by joining the national track team. So they plan to go to Pyongyang to get her a passport.

3.The Watch

Se Ri sells her watch at the market pawn shop and she sees a nice men’s watch. We learn that this watch is important to Cho Cheol Gang, which means our protagonist needs to get it before he does. In a different scene, we learn that the watch belongs to Ri Mu Hyuk, Captain Ri’s brother.

4. Company 5 get Investigated

Cho Cheol Gang continues his investigation of Se Ri and her true identity. He calls up the men of company 5 to interrogate them about Se Ri.

5. Seung Jun and Se Ri Find Each Other

Seung Jun and Se Ri meet. Shocked to see her, he takes her into elevator. This is how the episode ends. It’s a perfect ending.

Quotes

“Sometimes the wrong train takes you to the right station.” –The drama says this quote is an Indian proverb, but Google says it’s a quote from the movie Lunchbox (which is a good movie btw).

Scene

I love this scene. This bike ride brings a feeling of nostalgia. A simple love.

The village ladies are so hilarious. I love them. Na Wol Sook has clearly drunk too much and lost her inhibitions.

After drinking all night with the girl, Captain Ri comes home (in the morning) to this sight.

I feel sorry for the rat–crying himself to sleep here. He has a tough job and no one really like him. Who can trust a rat? In this scene. He just cries because what else can he do? Cho Cheol Gang threaten his family.

This train sequence is the cutest by far in the series. They make a perfect couple and this scene shows it. Their personality mesh well. She is demanding and he is there to meet her every demand. Every girl needs a man like that.

Thoughts

I also find this scene funny because this is how I demand my husband around. I love it. My husband agreed.

This scene reminds me of when my family went to Mexico. Every time the bus stopped, vendor would hop on quickly trying to sell their items. I see North Korea has just as much hustle.

Romantically, Captain Ri and Dan both need someone who takes more initiative. Their relationship is cole because of it. If you see, both Captain Ri and Dan are completely different people together than when they are he is with Se Ri or when she is with Seung Jun.

Drama to Life

I feel a bit odd writing this here because there are still so many episodes that I have yet to see. Nevertheless, here are some things:
