Review

Action movies aren’t really my style, but I’m beginning to feel that fantasy is. When I first encountered this film, I walked in and my husband just started to watch it. He told me he didn’t think I’d like it, but for some reason I did.

I have heard of Bleach before. The title doesn’t exactly entice me. Bleach..? Umm…I see enough of it when I’m cleaning.

Characters

Story

Because I have never seen the anime or read the manga, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into and that’s usually how I like to do it (that’s partially the reason why I don’t put too much information into reviews). This story felt new to me. The movie was quick to take off. We get thrown into the story rapidly. We may not know everything right away, but the information comes to us in the right time.

Shout out to the writers, Shinsuke Sato and Daisuke Habara! Even though I have never seen the story, it was so well written/created that I plan to watch some of the anime (there’s no way I’m watching a billion episodes of this series) and possibly read the manga. I imagine that it wasn’t too disappointing to the fans of Bleach (like almost all live actions are). As for me, the beginner, I felt that the story was introduced at a nice pace and making sure that any important information was known.

Also the anime has 366 episodes and the manga has 696 chapters, I have no idea how the writers were able to condense all that information into a 2 hour movie. The story arc must have been well-chosen.

Music

All the music was created by Yutaka Yamada. The song I did like was the “Zanbakuto.”

Quotes

“Something tells me that you won’t defeat me.”-Ichigo (I need this much confidence in my day-to-day life.)

“Eat well and live well. Age well until you go bald. Die smiling. Make your life worth living.”-Ichigo’s dad

Favorite Scenes

This is probably the only scene that I absolutely love. It’s actually repetitive scene where the classmates says Ichigo is dead, but Ichigo comes in and says that he’s alive (and he stands exactly like below each time).

Afterthoughts/Recommendations

I have plenty of afterthoughts, first off the ending was perfect. It closed up the story, but not completely. I mean we don’t know if he gave all of Rukia’s powers back . So we also don’t know if he’s still a reaper.

Another thing, what’s up with Chad? He has to have some power (okay, I did a little research on him but I’m going to act like I didn’t).

Then this hollow…

Look at it! It looks like a mix between a spider and “no face” from Spirited Away. So creepy!

And this guy…

If this was an American movie, I think Johnny Depp would play this character.
