You’re My Destiny (2017) Drama Review

You’re My Destiny is a 2017 Thai drama remake of the Taiwanese drama with the same name. Or the alternative version of the Taiwanese drama you’ll want to see.

Genre: Romance, drama (they say it’s  comedy too, but there are only a few funny parts).
Episodes: 17

Summary

Wanida and Pawut accidentally end up sleeping together after a situation set up by Pawut’s enemies. From that point on their destinies are intertwined. Together, they go through many joyful and difficult times which makes their love for each other stronger.

Review

If you haven’t read the review of the Taiwanese version of this drama, then I’ll tell you now: I love the Taiwanese version. I was excited when I discovered that there is a Thai version of the same drama. And I happen to like this one as well. While the Taiwanese version is silly and questionable in many things (which I ignore, but also love), this version is more logical and realistic. I call this “the grown up” version. It’s a drama my mom would probably enjoy watching.

Characters

Story

To review this, I can’t help but compare it to the original Taiwanese drama. This drama cleaned up any issues that someone may have found with the original drama as far as the story goes. Every situation is much more toned down and depending on who you are, you may like that. I like how the male lead is nicer. I also like how they gave him good reasons for him to feel the way that he feels. I understood nearly every choice that he made. Other things I like from this story:

Production/acting

I felt like the acting was in a little flat in the beginning. I think it gets better later on in the drama. As far as production, this drama has some shots that I really enjoyed seeing.

I like how they portrayed this texting scene. They did this a couple times.

And can we talk about how nicely the product placement is. I nearly book myself a Caribbean cruise already.

Music

It took some getting used to the language before I was able to truly enjoy the music. None of the songs really jump out at me, but I did get used to the intro song. There was one instrumental song that I thought was too intense for the situations that they played it in. If you’ve seen the drama you might agree with me.

Favorite Scenes

I like this part when Taya calls out Pawut for not taking care of his wife.

When granny tells Wanida how she feels about her.

Bad picture, I admit. But I like this scene where Wanida confronts Pawut. As you can tell, not the best translation, but you get the point she’s trying to make.

This scene is cute. Pawut meets his son.

Quotes

As we all are.

Afterthoughts/Reccomendations

This may not be my version favorite of this drama (I love the Taiwanese one. I’ve probably said that enough, right?), the Thai version is still a really nice presentation of the same story.

There are probably more places, but these were the main spots where I found the drama.
