Nao-Style Birthday Party

Nao is the female lead in the drama, Good Morning Call. In episode 6 of season 2, she threw a really cool birthday celebration for Uehara. She can plan and throw an amazing birthday party. I can’t. So I have a lot of respect for her. The last party I threw was my daughter 1st birthday and that’s when I realized I don’t like throwing parties. A Nao-style party is so extra that I wouldn’t know where to start. But I’ll start with this blogpost.

Step 1

The very first step in implementing a Nao-style party is the most important: the planning. Spend some time thinking about the schedule of how things will go. Now in order to do it Nao-styled, this party has to be for some you know and love very well. And the schedule must be very detailed. Here’s my poor example of me trying to emulate Nao:

Here’s Nao’s schedule:

Hers is so much cuter! Maybe when it’s closer to my husband’s birthday, I’ll put more effort into it.

Step 2

Go on an exhaustive search for the right gift. Start by asking 40 questions to find out what he/she really likes.

Nao was able to find this amazing watch, but someone ended up buying it before she could.

I was able to find this exact watch online. My husband really liked it, so I was curious to find out how much it cost. These watches are actually custom-made. They have a variety of styles and materials to choose. The actually watch and straps are sold separately. So it can get pricey. Find this exact watch here.

Step 3

Make sure you write the menu for the day too, also very detailed. Make sure it’s a feast.

I know for sure 3 of the items which happened to be on the white table.

Here’s the recipes for the cabbage rolls and the croquettes pictured here. But I would say to spend more time making the food that the person likes.

Step 4

Decorations! You will have to spend some time creating the decorations in advance. Make sure to go all out and order balloons. Tons of balloons!!

Preparing the decorations days in advance!

Being Extra with it. But I love it!

Step 5

Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Surprised Uehara

I feel exhausted just writing about this amazing Nao-style party. But I think it will be worth it when you see the look on the person’s face when they truly are surprised by the amount of work and effort you put into it. I feel like I should do this for my kids too. My husband said no (I think it’s because he wants to be the only one getting this special treatment). My favorite thing about it is that she made the party for just the two of them.

Would you plan a party this extreme? How would you do it differently?
