5 Persian Proverbs to Live By

June 2, 2017 by Marissa

I love proverbs. They give guidance and show how to lead a great life. Proverbs can be found all over the world and several of them are repeated in different ways that fit the culture’s lifestyle. Persian proverbs are similar. Here are five Persian proverbs to live by.

“Seek Knowledge from cradle to grave.”

Never stop learning. There will always be something new to learn. They world is growing and changing at a fast pace. Knowledge will help you keep up. Learning keeps your brain healthy. It can even slow down the development of certain diseases.

“As long as you are standing, give a hand to those who have fallen.”

This one is an easy one. Help those who have fallen and need help. There will probably be a time when you fall as well.

“There is much hope in hopelessness: for at the end of the dark night, there is light.”

Don’t give up. Even if you are going through difficult time, it’s good to remember that they don’t last forever. As the sun set on one day, it is rising again for someone on the other side of the world. Life works in cycles of good times and tough times. So remember that even though things are not what you want them to be right now, things will get better. (Whew! I think I just encouraged myself.)

“Patience is bitter, but it has sweet fruit.”

This is one I need to repeat daily. After waiting for so long, my patience can really run out. But I think it’s best to remember that while being patient something good can come from it.

“Stones are free and so are the sparrows.”

So this is one of the proverbs that is strictly cultural. Luckily I found the translation. This means that you have nothing to lose.
