Snacks to try from Playful Kiss

May 22, 2017 by Marissa

From just watching dramas, you start to believe that Korean have a love affair with food. They eat it all the time, making your mouth water. Playful Kiss is no different. This drama particularly ate a lot more snacks that main dishes, but it doesn’t change the food love affair one bit.

I wrote about the delicious soups that were mention in the drama and so now I will share the snacks.

Melon Fruit Bowl

A melon filled with delicious fruit

In episode 2, Seungjo’s mom brings him and his brother this fruit bowl as a snack. It looks sooo good. His mom is an overachiever. I never put in so much work for a snack. But I did attempt to make this, but I couldn’t find the green honeydew. And my picture does not look as delicious as this one. But my children ate it all in one bite. I was lucky to get a picture.

Not as pretty looking, right?

Here’s my attempt. Despite looking like throw, it taste delicious. I will have to try harder next time.

Strawberry Ice

It looks so delicious!!

In episode 4 right before they headed to the beach, the mom whipped up this strawberry ice. It seems like perfect snack before you head off to the beach.

Then I attempted to make Korean Shaved Ice. It came out Amazing. The perfect snack on a hot day. If you have never cooked azuki beans, it is worth it. They are so yummy. I found this recipe on Maangchi. She is a go-to for Korean food.

Fruit Medley

What is that red fruit? And are those Asian pears?

This one has me stumped. Only because I’m not exactly sure what the fruit shown are and that’s why I haven’t attempted it. I know that there are oranges and grapes. I want to say the one by his hands are Asian pears and the deep red ones are prickly pears, but I’m not sure. But either way, it makes for a nice and healthy snack.

Fruit Filled Martini Glasses

Graduation Party and martini glasses filled with fruit

This is the only snack not create y Seungjo’s mom. It seems like the snack would be more fitting for a party. It was difficult to get a decent picture and so I can only say that I know there is watermelon, grapes, and mandarin oranges in this medley.

Seungjo’s Breakfast

I think he was attempting a western style breakfast, but the most important thing is missing. Where the meat? Specifically for us Americans, where’s the bacon? But Seungjo made breakfast, so we can’t exactly be picky about it. This is a simple and easy breakfast that I haven’t even attempted to make.

That’s all for the food for now. There were more, but I didn’t bother to spend my time wondering. Maybe next time.

Would you try any of these foods? Comment below.
