5 Places to Visit in Korean From the Korean drama Playful Kiss

While watching the Korean drama, Playful Kiss, I observed the many travel spots that the antagonist visited. When she went on dates or on trips with the family, you are given a glimpse of Korean. Here are the places that you can add to your trip itinerary.

Mangsang Beach

Mangsang Beach is located in the northeastern region of Donghae City in Gungwan-do Providence. It’s opened year round and it’s free. Its amenities include volleyball courts, post office, medical facilities, restaurants, campgrounds, and a leisure complex which includes a merry-go-round and bumper cars. If you want more nature, you can also find white sand, clear shallow water, and beautiful pine forest.

Donghae is right on the coast, towards the bottom of the providence.

During the summer vacation, the Baek family, along with Hani’s friends and dad, decided to take a trip to Mangsang beach. There they did lot of fun beach activities.

Namsan Park

During the date with Gitae, Hani goes to Namsan park for a bike ride. Namsan park is located in the heart of Seoul. There, you can find Mt. Namsan. Where at the top you’ll find an aquarium, fountains, and a library. To reach the top, there are cable cars, a stairway, hiking paths, and driving courses.

Namsan park is a historical site. During the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), the capital was changed to Hanyang (which is the current Seoul). To protect from invasions, castle walls were built on 4 mountains, Mt. Namsan being one of them.

What else can you see at the park:

Han River

Han River is also known as Hangang River. It is a major river in South Korea and the 4th longest on the peninsula. From the central part of the peninsula, the Han River flows from Gangwon-do through Seoul and extends to the Yellow Sea.

In playful Kiss while Seungjo was on his date with Hera, they went to a cafe on the Han river. They eventually ran into Hani on her date with Jungu. Earlier in the drama when Seungjo and Hani went on their accidental date, they rode a pedal boat among duck boats. After doing a little research, I discovered that along the Han river. In Yeouido Hangang Park, there are automatic or pedal duck boat that can fit 2-3 people.

Here’s a link about information about the boats. Click this link for other activities to do along the river.

New York Hot Dog and Coffee

This restaurant is a place where Kyungsu takes Hera as a date. They black out some of the title, but they did it haphazardly. I add this because I think that hot dogs and coffee is a strange combination. It is an even stranger name for a restaurant. While looking for information about this restaurant on the internet. I discovered that there isn’t much. But here’s a link to the reviews on Trip Advisor.

Jeju Island

Jeju Island  is the largest island off the Korean peninsula and it is the main island of the Jeju-do providence, which lies in the Korea Strait. The Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes are a natural World Heritage Site. The climate is moderate year round, it rarely falls under 32F (0C). It  is always the place to be when you get married in a Korean drama. This is the honeymoon mecca of Korea. Jeju Loveland is a place for newly weds; it is a sex-themed sculpture park. Other places to see would be Mangjangul Lava tube, Seongsan Ilchulbong aka “Sunrise Peak”, Mt Hallasan, and Seongeup Folk Village.

I couldn’t find what this giant clay building is. If you know, please tell me.

When they went inside, it looked like a museum.
